One of them was quite open for a while and looked like he would sell or just give it to me. We talked and messaged over for a long time but at the end decided to keep it as it was a real chilhood treasure. I was very disappinted but could not blame the person. One other time i found a group of tipitip, numbers 1-20 and bought them. But not surprisingly they were missing number1. The most valued virtue of Sufism (the whirling dervishes) in the convent of Rumi is known to be patience. The years were passing, i had number 2, 3 ... but not number 1. Maybe it was time to take a trip to Konya to join the convent. I knew what it looked like with the tipitip dressed as a soldier throwing the bomb to be returned by his dog, but somehow succeeded in escaping my hands over and over I have a friend who is obsessed with collecting number 1 of things. He collects and has first issues of rare comics, humor magazines, old newspapers, sports magazines, first books published by any book publisher, first book of a series of crime novels etc. While talking over one day he mentioned he has tipitip number 1. I almost fell of my chair and told him to look everywhere in his house. He looked but cant find it, literally thousands of books to look through, he just cannot remember in which one he placed it. So as some of you might have noticed i finally had a break several weeks ago. When i got the news through a friend i took an overnight trip to Istanbul, and there it was, our small soldier looking at me in the eyes.. ---------------------------------------------- a small note here : Tipitip is a character or brand very well known in Turkey. Its very nostalgic so a lot of people who do not collect gums might have tipitip. Its the gum that revolutionized Turkish gum production. Even people who didnt buy gums knew tipitip very well. Even nowadays just any person you ask on the street will know the name tipitip. On the other hand nobody will really know turbo. You might even hear the word tipitip being used in place of the word 'gum', like somebody asking for a tipitip in a corner shop, he or she is really asking for just any gum. |

Here, in my country, I don't think it is possible to find tip i tip №1. Besides, it is very difficult to find any tip i tip till №700. I have only one, №667. It was given to me by friend, who, in his turn, got it from a girl from Poland. |
